Scribendi Sponsors Creative Writing Event NaNoWriMo
November is National Novel Writing Month, and Scribendi is supporting authors and aspiring authors by sponsoring NaNoWriMo, an annual event that prompts writers to pen a 50,000-word novel in just one month.
Scribendi has sponsored the event in the past and is excited to again partner with NaNoWriMo to help achieve its simple goals: building writing confidence, celebrating diverse voices, and supporting literate communities.
NaNoWriMo, which was founded in 1999, has expanded into a worldwide phenomenon. In 2015, more than 431,000 people participated in the event. It is again poised to draw thousands of participants, offering support throughout the challenge in the form of webinars, word sprints, and virtual write-ins. Popular authors will also speak and give advice through live streaming.
NaNoWriMo provides the group atmosphere many writers need to follow their dreams and get writing, and the success of this format has been proven again and again. For instance, over 250 NaNoWriMo novels have been traditionally published, including Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen and Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell.
