Scribendi was founded in 1997, and is one of the world’s oldest and biggest online editing and proofreading companies. Our primary goal is to provide clients with fast, reliable, and affordable language services.
In addition to editing and proofreading, the Scribendi team also owns and operates Inklyo.com, a provider of online writing courses and ebooks.
High-quality and personalized editing services can result in an author being published, a business professional landing that big client, or a student receiving a university degree or college diploma. And that’s why, here at Scribendi, we only employ the most experienced and highly educated editors.
With more than 250 editors, we have experts in a vast array of subjects and fields, including business communication, academic editing, medical and scientific editing, ESL editing, publishing and manuscript editing, and resume editing.
Our editors are unrivaled in experience and education, and we take our reputation for employing only the best very seriously. Our extensive screening process ensures that we recruit top-notch editors, and our high level of employee engagement means that we retain them.
Our editors are:
- Highly educated, many with master’s degrees and PhDs
- Published academics in a variety of technical and non-technical fields
- Published authors, whether in fiction or non-fiction
- Experienced editing and proofreading professionals
- Fluent in all academic style guides and comfortable with specific corporate style guides
- Strictly native English speakers
- Committed to rigorous quality assurance standards, which are ISO certified
- Continuously undergoing training and being coached for their own professional development
- Trained using a rigorous in-house training program, which takes more than 100 hours to complete, to ensure consistent, high-quality editing
Since 1997, our hand-picked, elite editorial team has been processing hundreds of thousands of orders from around the world.
Editing and proofreading are so much more than language correction. We believe that quality revision services directly contribute not just to the success of a project but also to the success of an individual. At Scribendi, we help writers reach their highest potential.
When Scribendi reviews an admissions essay, we help someone get into the school of his or her dreams. To say that this has a profound impact on that person's career path or personal life—who he or she ends up meeting, befriending, or marrying—is no exaggeration.
When we edit a journal article, our work can help get an author published. In this way, Scribendi is helping add to the incredible wealth of human knowledge. More than that, we are leveling the academic playing field. By helping someone in a developing country express himself or herself clearly in English, Scribendi ensures that the work will be judged on merit, not linguistic issues.
When we clarify business communications, we can help settle disputes, prevent misunderstandings, "seal a deal," or explore new, potentially lucrative markets. Our work has a pronounced and direct effect on the bottom line, and by extension, the economy.
And when we help an author with his or her first book, or first play, we act as midwives, helping to bring a wonderful invention of the mind—a creation—to life.
Yes, what we do at Scribendi is so much more than polishing and revising.
It is helping the world communicate more clearly, one comma at a time.

She then worked as a reporter/photographer for a large chain of weeklies before becoming the managing editor of an independent paper, a post she held for two years before striking out on her own. She pens a weekly humor column, and has written dozens of short stories, and newspaper and magazine articles.
