Scribendi.com and the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority launch the Heritage Tree project in Chatham-Kent.
Scribendi.com Receives Landowner Award for Leadership in Land Stewardship
Local editing company recognized for its commitment to local environmental initiatives
Scribendi.com has been chosen by the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA) as the business/industry leader in land stewardship for 2014. The LTVCA presented the leading online editing and proofreading company with the award at the Scribendi.com headquarters in Chatham–Kent, Ontario. The award is a wood carving by Highgate chainsaw artist Robin Wenzowski, and it will be displayed in the office for two months before being brought to a locally awarded school.
"We are very grateful to receive this award, as it represents our commitment to both greening Chatham–Kent and employee wellness," said Chandra Clarke, president of Scribendi.com. "We will definitely enjoy having this unique piece in our office this summer!"
Scribendi.com is being recognized with this award because of its involvement with the LTVCA in helping preserve and grow Chatham–Kent's native tree coverage over the past decade. This year, the company created a Heritage Tree Project to nominate native and well-known trees in the Chatham–Kent area. Each tree nominated receives a plaque, and the data collected are used to create a map of all the trees selected.
"The Greening Partnership is expanding the categories for our award to include a business and a school. For the last seven years, Scribendi.com has committed funds and employee time on environmental initiatives in Chatham–Kent," said Randall Van Wagner, environmental project coordinator at the LTVCA. "This year we are acknowledging them with our unique wood carving from chainsaw artist Robin Wenzowski."
Scribendi.com is an annual donor and has provided financial and volunteer assistance to the Chatham–Kent Greening Partnership over the past several years to preserve, improve, and maintain the environment of Chatham–Kent through tree plantings, peat pot donations, trail work in local parks, and fundraising events.
On behalf of its staff, Scribendi.com is honored to accept the LTVCA's land stewardship award and is looking forward to participating in more conservation events in the future.
