Are you a student? Do you need some extra cash?
Post-secondary education is a lot of work. It's time consuming, stressful, and emotionally draining. It's also expensive, and this expense can add even more to the stress of attaining your degree or diploma. Luckily, the editors at Scribendi understand what it's like to be a starving student. We also understand how difficult it is for young people to take time out of their busy schedules to give some love to their communities.
That's why, for the first time ever, Scribendi is offering a scholarship for community leadership. If you can prove to us in 150 short, sweet, and succinct words—you are writing for editors, after all—what you are doing to help your community, we'll reward you with $1,000. That's right—you could win 1,000 big ones for telling us what makes you a community leader.
The contest rules are simple. All you have to do is answer the contest question and give us some basic information about yourself.
Here is the exact question you will find on the contest form: What are you doing to make a difference in your community?
We won't judge you based on your GPA, your major at school, or your ability to spike a volleyball. You don't have to have big dreams of becoming a chemist, a journalist, a doctor, an artist, a basketball player, or an actor to win this contest. What we want to know is how you have used your personal strengths and talents for the benefit of others.
Perhaps you volunteer at your local hospital. Maybe you started a theater improv group for young aspiring actors. You might be a clown doctor or a library volunteer or an activist championing an important cause. Take a look at our past scholarship winners to see the diverse causes they have advocated. Whatever it is that you do for your community, we want to hear about it.
Your contributions are valuable for so much more than monetary reasons, but it sure doesn't hurt to get some financial recognition when you're living off ramen noodles and peanut butter now, does it? So what are you waiting for? Apply today, and you might just be rewarded for all of your hard work.
