Allusion/Illusion

Allusion: Often used where the word reference could also be appropriate; can apply to indirect references.

Illusion: A trick of the senses that is not part of reality.

Example Sentences: His allusion to football made me think of the football game next weekend. The magician cutting the girl in half was simply an illusion.
