About Us

We are an experienced, responsive company built to handle the needs of today's writers.

Scribendi.com was created in 1997 in order to provide a new solution to an old problem. Writers have always needed editors to polish their masterpieces into the gems that get published, win awards, advance academic endeavor or secure business deals.

As writers and editors themselves, Scribendi's founders understood the particular requirements of writers; they built a service-oriented infrastructure that eliminates uncertainty and delay, builds confidence and frees the writer to focus on getting their message across, whatever the audience. Based entirely on Internet technology, Scribendi made getting a document edited, proofed or translated as easy as hitting the enter key.

Within a year of its inception, Scribendi had a global retail clientele and acquired a number of corporate accounts. It established itself as a reliable resource for high-quality, effective service, with the added benefit of competent, useful critiques and writing advice.

We now edit more than a million words a week, more than Shakespeare wrote in his entire career.

Over the years, the service has grown to employ more than 200 editors and translators from around the world. We help individuals and companies to improve their writing and communicate effectively. Our world-class editors and consultants lend their expertise to aspiring novelists, screenwriters, PhD candidates, webmasters, and business leaders. We help those who speak and write English as a Second Language to clarify their English documents while helping them improve their understanding of American or British idioms.

Because of the unique structure of this online, 24/7 company, writers can submit their documents any time, night or day, from anywhere in the world, and know that the revised copy will reappear on schedule with corrections in place and helpful comments on how the piece might be improved.

We understand the business of writing and we know how good writing can help your business.

Scribendi is empowered to deliver worldwide on-demand access to professional editors, proofreaders and translators by our ability to continually innovate and refine our unique business systems.
